Sleep

Life is something to do when you can’t get to sleep – Fran Lebowitz

Sleep is something that every single person can relate you. A topic that not one person hasn’t experienced. Sleep plays such an important part of our lives so why not talk about it? Sleep has a huge impact on our day to day lives and reflects in our behaviour patterns. Good, restful sleep comes with a huge range of positive effects on our general health and wellbeing.

Our sleep environment plays a huge part in how we sleep. It’s important to be in a comfortable setting for people to get the full positive effects when sleeping. Sleep increases our energy and concentration levels. This recognises how sleep effects our working day. It affects our relationships with people and even how productive we are. Sleep deprivation changes our emotional stability which is why we tend to have a more negative attitude when we’re tired.

There’s nothing better than waking up and knowing you’ve had a great dream. Dreams are our most creative conscious state. Dreams tell a story and almost always involve ourselves. Dreams incorporate things that have happened to us recently. They often recognise deep wishes or fears. You can’t control your dreams, but often people wake up before reaching a conclusion to a dream. Some dreams can me vivid or very vague, but they serve no real purpose. Dreams often reflect on something/someone we think in our day to day lives.

Sleeping is the best meditation for the mind, body and soul. The body heals when we sleep. Our mobile phones are a key factor that affects our sleep. Even just the light from our mobiles can affect the way we sleep and the depth that we sleep in. The seasons even affect the way we sleep. Animals go in to hibernation throughout the winter. The dark, long days and cold weather influence our bodies in to sleeping for longer.

Sleep is so important and should never be underestimated. Sleeping influences our lives more than we realise and it’s vital we don’t forget that.

Sleep well.
