With summer just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start making some healthier life choices so you’re feeling your best this year. With so much fresh, in-season produce available across a wide range of supermarkets, there’s no excuses! Small, simple changes will make a huge difference to the way you feel both inside and out, so try these top tips to make sure you’re summer ready!

Hydrate

Try to drink between 3-5 litres of water a day, even more depending on your body consumption. It may sound like a lot initially, but once it’s part of your routine you may even want to increase it. Try replacing fizzy drinks for sparkling water with lemon or lime and keep a water bottle with you on the go. There are so many health benefits such as the promotion of healthy hair, teeth, skin and joints. Additionally, drinking water improves digestion, supresses’ appetite, reduces fatigue and increases metabolism! It also reduces bloating, so you’ll always be ready to hit the beach!

Eat Breakfast

It’s so important to start your day off right with a hearty breakfast which will keep you full until your next meal. Get out of bed just that little bit earlier and opt for food which is both energising and nutritious. Try porridge with fruit and yoghurt, poached or scrambled eggs on toast or an omelette with all your favourite ingredients to kick start your metabolism so you can face the day!

Exercise

It’s repeatedly proven to have hugely beneficial effects on your physical and mental health, however the idea of going to a gym or attending classes can seem intimidating to some. Make exercise more fun than mundane gym workouts and enjoy the summer weather. Set up a short circuit routine in your garden, go for a run in the nearest park or get on a bike with friends and head to the beach. Being active will promote the release of endorphins, making you feel good and look great!

Get Your 8 Hours

Sleep is crucial for your well-being and lack of it can have serious side-effects. Sleep has been shown to increase concentration and memory meaning that you’ll perform much better throughout the day after a healthy amount of it. It’s also crucial for muscle repair, successful learning, increasing attention, maintaining a healthy weight, lowering stress and reducing rates of depression so make sure you’re getting a good night’s kip.

Take Up a Hobby
