The Clocks going forward – Summer’s coming

Spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘let’s party!’ – Robin Williams

With the Clocks moving forward this week and flowers beginning to blossom we are seeing new beginnings of summer. For me, the word summer brings warmth to my bones and a smile to my face. Summer recognises happy memories and excitement for new ones. Planning your summer is one of the hardest things. There’s so many things you want to do in such a short space of time. It’s the season that brings light at the end of the tunnel. It’s the season that is greatly missed after a long winter.

Summer is like a colourful painting surrounding us, colours of warmth. With the full, green leaves that cover the trees and the red, hot sun reflecting off the sea. It’s so comforting waking up and hearing birds singing, knowing that through the crack of your curtains is a clear blue sky awaiting you. The smell of freshly cut green grass feels so fresh through your nose. Summer brings a sense of purity giving us room to breathe.

There’s something about the music coming from an ice cream van that still brings excitement to my stomach. The buffeting and racing to get to the front of the queue of the van was my main aim when hearing that sound. Something so simple brought me, an 8 year old girl, so much happiness. This reminds us of the nostalgia that summer brings.

There’s nothing better than being able to sit outside late at night when there’s still heat in the air. A clear night sky full of stars overlooking you and being with the people you love. The natural beauty that summer brings completely changes the way people behave. People on a whole tend to be happier in summer. Summer is known as the festival season which people thrive off bringing live music to our ears, dancing all day in the sun.

Summer represents celebration. Enjoy it.
